My 2012 – Part 2, The Pictures and the Thank Yous.

I’m finishing this year happy, exhausted, excited and most of all…ill (But when you think about it, I started 2012 ill, so that makes sense). And what a year 2012 has been! New country, new people, end of Uni, and some life-changing encounters…So, I’m going to do something you shouldn’t do when a blog is public : I’m going to open up and tell you how emotional this year was. I hope you’re ready.

So, where do I start? People. I love meeting people. People change my world. Let’s talk about how inspirational meeting Jonah Matranga was. Late April, special circumstances, a farewell to one of my amazing friends (I’ve talked about  him here ). Over the years, as a journalist and music lover, I’ve been lucky enough to meet some of the most kind and passionate human beings, but to be frank, nothing prepared me to this. Okay, I’m going to sound like a fangirl for a  couple of minutes, but I don’t care : I’ve never met an artist like Jonah Matranga, someone so honest in his music and words, someone so caring, kind and happy to be living on this planet. Listening to this man is quite eye-opening, and I think I needed this kind of honesty to carry on. So, Jonah, I thank you for this year, for these words that keep me going. See you soon!

Meeting J August Richards at the Hallowhedon Con was equally inspiring and awesome. Endless talks about writing, playing, inspirations and politics, and hope and dreams. Thanks for helping me to hold on to my dreams. Let’s do some Epic Shit!

I also met awesome friends, here’s the roll call : Denis and his magic car, Sophie, my Brat Pack team : Moshpit Mojito, Wild Child & Sneaky Clem, thanks for the great Uni memories (Côte Ouest anyone?), Dan, the awesome people I met at the Con, the fellow Whedonites, The Yr Letter team, the lovely peeps at various gigs (especially the Johnny Foreigner one)  and anyone I forget here because I have the memory of a toaster : Thanks for an awesome year! Ok, I write awesome too much, and this is becoming an award acceptance speech, but more thanks to my awesome gang, you know who you are, I love you, and thank you for helping me on both sides of the Channel (but extras thanks to James & Dana, because they’re great hosts.).

It’s not only been about people ; it’s also been about trips : Spain for the first time (fell hopelessly in love with Barcelona. Architecture, food, people, weather…Heaven), Italy again, and of course UK, just before settling down in Brighton. This is something I still want to do in 2013 : Travelling, discovering new places, getting lost in beautiful streets, …Let’s make it happen.

Brighton. My own and exciting adventure: moving and writing a new chapter in my life. And you can see weekly (more or less) on this blog, it’s going well (sometimes)! 2012 was an important year, I grew up, I still do. I know what I want and I’m working on it (with some touch of fear and still some work to do on my self-esteem, but you know, one step at a time). I let it go, I know it’s scary sometimes, but I’m doing it. Living the dream, leaving the shadows. Ready for some good in my life, finally!

Right, enough rambles. Here are the pics. And before I leave, thank you readers. I hope you had a great 2012 too, and let’s make 2013 a blast, okay?

Be excellent to each other xx
